Who are Dignity?

Dignity is one of the leading funeral plan providers in the UK. For generations, Dignity has been making funeral planning as easy and stress-free as possible.

Can I choose my funeral director?

Dignity will allocate a funeral director to you from their national network of owned and approved funeral directors.

If you'd like your plan to be allocated to a specific funeral director, contact Dignity on 0800 652 3345* before you take out your plan, and they'll let you know if it's possible. Dignity reserves the right to move your plan to a different funeral director if they need to.

What happens if I move house?

That's okay - Dignity funeral plans can be moved anywhere within mainland Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Jersey, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight. Simply tell Dignity where you're moving to, and they will update their records and advise you of your New Nominated Funeral Director, if you need to switch. You won't be charged for this.

Does the plan cover every cost?

As with all funeral plans, there may be some extra costs that aren't covered by the plan.

What happens if I pass away before I've paid all the monthly instalments?

The arrangements and price guarantees in your plan will still be in place, provided the person arranging your funeral agrees to pay any remaining payments in full. Dignity will send over an invoice for the outstanding costs after the funeral.

What if Dignity goes out of business?

The money required for your funeral would still be protected because it's held in the National Funeral Trust that is legally separate from Dignity. In the unlikely event that Dignity were to go out of business it may however mean that they would be unable to provide the funeral they had promised to provide. If this happened the Managing Trustees of the Trust would work with the remaining Nominated Funeral Directors, and where necessary seek to appoint new Nominated Funeral Directors, to continue to provide services to Planholders.

Dignity are a registered provider with the Funeral Planning Authority and in this scenario other Registered Providers would co-operate in the delivery of the Authority’s “Pledge to Customers” by which the other Registered Providers will examine the ways in which they might assist in delivering the funerals of customers of the insolvent Registered Provider.

What if I change my mind, can I have a refund?

Yes, Dignity will provide you with a full refund of the money you've paid if you cancel within 30 days. If you cancel your plan after 30 days, a cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund.

Are there any age restrictions for buying a plan?

If you are aged 50 or over Dignity can guarantee that your application will be accepted. There are no upper age limits or health restrictions.

Can I include personal requests in my Funeral Plan?

Yes, you can. With the Prepaid Funeral Plan from Dignity you can record special requests and these will be passed on to your loved ones when the time comes.

The costs of some of these requests might not be covered by the plan, so they may have to be paid for at the time of the funeral. Alternately you can make a contribution towards the costs upfront which rises in line with the Retail Price Index so your loved ones will have less to pay for them when the time comes. If you change your mind, you can update your list of requests at any time. There's no administrative fee for this.

Dignity can't guarantee that your contributions will cover the cost of all special requests.

Can I change my plan?
